The Employment Generation Fund

Originally set up in 1992 by the Auckland and Manukau Synods of the Methodist Church of New Zealand, the Employment Generation Fund was a finalist in the 2006 Vero Excellence in Business Support Awards.

Since starting the fund has financially assisted more than 130 ventures, made advances of more than $1.4M and created 320 full-time equivalent jobs.

The fund will support:

  • ventures that are demonstrably viable.
  • ventures that show prospects of employment generation.
  • ventures that favour youth employment.
  • some ventures not eligible for help from any other source.

Finance

Funds are made available under three broad categories to provide:

  • loans for expansion of developing ventures.
  • loan capital for new small innovative ventures.
  • assistance for ventures of merit in danger of failure.

Our Requirements

Each application is considered confidentially on its merits, and successful applicants will be required to:

  • sign a "Deed of Loan" between the Fund and themselves.
  • operate acceptable accounting and commercial systems.
  • accept "mentor" assistance during the period of the loan

Some comments from borrowers

"The fund has offered me an amazing opportunity, I am eternally grateful”

"The fund has not only assisted me in re-establishing my business but has also helped create new and future employment”
