The LIFEWISE Centre

LIFEWISE is committed to making long-term positive change possible for all homeless people, from those who sleep on the streets to those who are marginally housed.

The Centre is a real safety net providing immediate services such as food, shelter and showers plus specialist support to assist people to make long-term changes and exit homelessness.

The Centre works in collaboration with other organisations to provide help with essential life skills, mental health issues, overcoming addictions, and assistance accessing and maintaining housing in the community.

The Centre is also the base for LIFEWISE's Court Support Outreach Service.

Work includes:

  • Drop in - open 364 days a year
  • Meal Service – dining hall meal service cooking and serving three meals a day totalling around 47, 000 meals per year.
  • Court Support Outreach Service - 5,000 support contacts a year within the Auckland District Court
  • Health Support Service - advice and minor treatments provided by a volunteer nurse
  • Case management and into housing support  - LIFEWISE client support workers
  • Mental health programmes – on site access to Taylor Centre (ADHB) staff
  • Drug & Alcohol programmes – on site access to Te Atea Marino and CADS staff
  • Washing facilities (hot showers and toilets ) and clothing  (donated goods)
  • 2008 Homeless World Cup (NZ Team) – coordination in association with Street Football Aotearoa
