LIFEWISE Family Services

Turning lives around by helping families to become stronger.

Every day LIFEWISE's Family Services is helping to build stronger, happier, more confident families by working with individual families and recognising their existing strengths.

Family workers are trained to offer full support and guidance for families in need, and to provide them with the tools, skills and resources to become their own problem solvers.

The most common issues addressed by staff at WAFS include parenting skills, child behaviour management, step-parenting difficulties, relationship issues, domestic violence, health and mental health concerns, financial and housing problems, and drug and alcohol addictions.

In 2006 LIFEWISE began working with Parents Inc to deliver Toolbox Parenting courses in the Waitakere area. In just 12 months, these courses have grown so much in popularity in West Auckland that the suburb can now boast the third highest course participation rate in the country.

“One of the most important factors of a good society is community. And when the community is caring and united there is enormous power for good. We at Parents Inc count it a privilege to work with LIFEWISE on our Toolbox programmes, providing parenting skills in the community.” – Ian Grant, Founder Parents Inc.

Family Services has a network of foster caregivers who offer caring and safe home environments for at risk children until appropriate permanent placements have been established.
